Whatever happened that night, the bucket stayed on his head, and in the morning it was filled full of chicken bones. And some folks say Buckethead had chicken grease and barbecue sauce smeared around the mouth hole on his mask. Well it prob'ly won't surprise you to hear that eventually the sun came up and the rooster crowed. He figured the spirits of all the fried chickens he ever knew were channeling into him through the bucket, and he played until he collapsed. All the grey people and angels in the cemetery listened to the music and it was so beautiful they just stood still and speechless. So he put the bucket on his head, picked up his guitar and ran to the cemetery.īuckethead was real sad but it seemed like he played guitar better than ever. Try as he might, Buckethead couldn't put the chicken back together again. One night, after he got to be this tall, somebody threw a bucket of fried chicken into the coop. But the people on the farm still made fun of him and smashed his family's eggs. And Giant Robot would shoot rockets out of his fingers and who knows what would happen.īuckethead practiced so much he started to get real good. He would sit and watch the movies and his fingers couldn't stop moving and now all the sudden there was music. So when he got to be about THIS tall Buckethead started playing his little guitar. All he heard was chickens when Leatherface would slam the big metal door shut. The speakers wouldn't reach to the coop though so he didn't even know what the movies sounded like. Every night at dusk the boy could watch great movies like GIANT ROBOT or THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE. Down the hill from the coop, and through a knothole in the fence, was the drive-in theater. One good way to forget the smell of burning cartilage was watching movies. He didn't know many other boys though, except those kids who lit him on fire that time. Now he could wear a mask every day, just like Halloween! He was the luckiest boy he knew.
The chickens took real good care of him, and they liked him so much they scratched his face off. As soon as he moved into the chicken coop he started to make new friends.
To this very day, believe it or not, Buckethead does not like to be shocked with a cattle prod.

The only thing they understood about him was how to treat him bad. Well I can't tell you everything about Bucket but I can tell you something.įirst of all you gotta understand Buckethead grew up real lonely on that farm. Is he part robot, will he hurt us, is he really Colonel Sanders son, on and on and on. Well every once in a while people ask me about Buckethead. Witherspoon, a Bucketheadland Historian, can tell his story as well as anyone, so check it out: Above average but not excellent either.I present to you Buckethead, a man only comparable to the Dalai Lama. Overall not an outstanding PIKE but decent enough to call good. Probably one of the heaviest tracks from BH in a while. This one is a lot more interesting than the opener as it has different ways of mixing up the riffing sessions up with varying intensity. This one sustains pretty much the same chord progressions but changes the riffs up with alternating softer passages and the grungy faster ones. "Growing Gills" is a bit feistier with heftier guitar distortion and a faster tempo. While competent and not offensive to the ears, unfortunately this is like the gazillionth rendition of the same basic formula that takes a recurring theme and spirals out to an unnecessary playing time. As with many of the more recent PIKEs of the same ilk, this one has an atmospheric backdrop that sort of steers the chord progressions as it drops in and out of the soundscape. The sprawling title track is a one of those common alt metal tracks with all instrumental guitar riffing sessions accompanied by thumping bass and drums. The opening title track swallows most of the playing time with over 21 minutes leaving the second "Growing Gills" at just shy of 8 minutes. BUCKETHEAD's third release of 2022 is PIKE 305- TWO STORY HOURGLASS and features only two tracks that barely race past the 29-minute mark.
